Reminder: NIH 2017 Director's Pioneer Award program


NIH is calling for applications for its 2017 The Pioneer Award program.

This program supports individual scientists who's research is pioneering and highly innovative, with the potential to make an unusually high impact on biomedical or behavioral research. The proposed research must be unique and differ substantially from research already pursued in the investigator's laboratory. Research in a wide range of fields is welcome. Investigators at all career stages are eligible and must commit the major portion (at least 51%) of their research effort to activities supported by the Pioneer Award. Those at early to middle stages of their careers, women, and members of underrepresented groups in biomedical or behavioral research are encouraged to apply.

  • Open to all career stages
  • 3 reference letters required (see here for more information: https://commonfund.nih.gov/pioneer/LettersofReferenceFormat)
  • Minimum of 51% research effort
  • Awards up to $700K per year for up to 5 years
The deadline for year 2017 applications is September 2nd, 2016.
